For the serious Titanic collector or museum. This special piece is a pot from the residential mansion of John Jacob Astor IV, the richest man in the world at the time of his death on Titanic in 1912. The pot possibly cooked “Astor’s Last Supper” at home. It was found in a steamer trunk marked JJA belonging to his grandson Ivan Obolensky. The trunk and its contents were long forgotten about and abandoned by the family. This is one of three pots found with that trunk, with the first smaller pot selling quickly.

The pot measures about 9 1/2” high, 9 1/2” in circumference, and weights 13lbs. The manufacture cannot be found and is perhaps located under the thick tin coating. Unlike the other two pots found in this set, this one it appears to be made of heavy steel or metal with a tin coating. It shows heavy use with dents and scrapes throughout. The outside has stamped “J.J. Astor. 840 0,” as was the customary practice in wealthy kitchens of the time. It identifies the owners name, address and pot number to match the lid (not included). The Astor Mansion was located at 840 5th Ave. in New York. * Please note this stamp is smaller, sloppier and appears to be more hastily applied compared to the other two.

This new discovery somehow escaped notice through history and is now being offered to the public for the first time. Vintage documentation with his grandsons name (direct lineage) will be added and a custom made signed COA will be included for this relic. Serious inquiries only.
